The recent modifications approved by the Senate for the Radio / TV Law, which could have imposed a 50% share of positive news in news programs, was declared anti-Constitutional on Wednesday, Antena 3 announced.

The decision was taken by the Constitutional Court, which analyzed the claim submitted by Democrat-Liberals. Soon after the law was adopted, Democrat-Liberal Party president Emil Boc announced he would challenge the modification, arguing that the new rule comes against the freedom of speech article in the Constitution.

The "positive news" rule was first rejected by the House of Deputies, but then it was adopted by the Senate, which has the last word in matters regarding the media.
