The government will not accept the 50% teachers' salary increase without a solid economic justification, Romanian transports minister Ludovic Orban declared after a meeting with Liberal leaders and PM Tariceanu.

Representatives of the government will meet their parliamentary counterparts and union leaders to discuss the unique law ruling the increase of teachers salaries. PM Tariceanu declared a couple of weeks ago that he will put forward a plan for the creation of a working group on the issue.

The working group is made up by government representatives, parliamentary representatives, union leaders and representatives of the local administrations. The Democrat Liberals was the only party that refused to be part of the working group.

Ludovic Orban declared that the government will refuse to uphold the law, due to its lack of economic justifications. Moreover, he underlined that the government will maintain its responsibility and will not sustain a law that will kneel the economy.
