The Romanian Government decided during its session on Tuesday to postpone the application of the law for the teachers' 50% raise until April 1, NewsIn informs, quoting governmental sources. The law should have been applied starting on October 1, according to the law adopted in the Parliament and promulgated by president Traian Basescu.

The Government argued its decision of the fact that a law for all budgetary personnel is still expected. The wages for teachers will increase on April 2, 2009, only in case a budgetary personnel law is adopted until that date.

Democrat-Liberals announced that they will submit a censure motion in case the Government doesn't apply the 50% raise law starting on October 1.

Teachers will still benefit from the 9% raise previously approved.
