President Basescu will use a 70,000 euro Dacia model initially bought in 2007 to replace his Volkswagen car, Romanian news agency Mediafax informs. According to a security company representative, the car has no special equipments installed. Moreover, the car was bought from Ager Leasing.

Ager Leasing is the company that also sold some 70,000 euro worth Dacia cars to the Bucharest Romanian Police Department. The transaction was under the spotlight and several leaders within the institution were fired.

President Basescu declared, after a visit to the Dacia factories in Mioveni, that he will give up his car and replace it with a Dacia model to support the company in passing through the financial crisis.
