The former Christian Democrat senator, president of the Former Political Convicts Association, Constantin Ticu Dumitrescu, died on Friday morning, aged 80.

Ticu Dumitrescu was the main artisan in the creation of the lustration law, a law he never accepted in the shape in which the Parliament adopted it. He spent his last years working in the National Council for the Study of the Former Securitate Archives - CNSAS (the documents inherited from Ceausescu's political police).
