Romania's National Meteorology Administration issued on Monday a yellow code alert for heavy snow and strong wind starting February 17, 12 pm to February 18, 9 am. During the period, heave snow is expected in West and North West Romania, especially in the mountainous areas.

Moreover, the wind is expected to blow at 50 to 55 km/hour and blizzards are expected. Snow is expected to fall in the Central and Northern regions of the country but the forecast does not register significant amounts.

The weather will improve slightly in the next couple of days but temperatures are still low for this period of the year and it will continue to snow across Romania until Tuesday at least. In Bucharest, snow continues to fall and maximum temperatures range between 3 to 4 degrees Celsius, according to Romania's National Television, TVR.
