Catalin Marinescu is the new president of Romania's National Telecom Regulatory Authority with a six years mandate after President Basescu signed the official decree, a press release of the presidency informs.

Marinescu was president of Romania's General Inspectorate for Communications and Information Technology from March 2005 to April 2007 when the institution's attributions were taken over by the new National Authority for Management and Regulation in Communications. Marinescu had 11 years of experience within Romtelecom, one of the biggest telephone operator in the country.
