The elderly and people with low education levels, mostly men, form the majority of Romanians who showed up and voted in European Parliament elections on Sunday, according to data provided by research institute INSOMAR, quoted by Romanian news agency NewsIn.

59% of Romanians voting by noon on Sunday were 50 or older, while 58% of them were men. 33% of voters were 50 to 64, while 26% were 65 or older.

Only 23% of voters were aged 35 to 49, while 18% were 18 to 34 years old.

49% of voters have 10-year education or less or graduated professional schools, 32% graduated high-school or post-high-school studies, while only 19% have university studies.
