Michael Jackson was the first major international artist who performed in post-Communist Romania, at a time when his career was peaking. On October 1, 2002, waves of fans across Romania came in Bucharest to see the world's most cherished singer. The whole country was waiting for the future King of the Pop to perform at the Bucharest Lia Manoliu stadium, an event which hosted over 70,000 people.

Michael Jackson returned to Romania in 1996 to perform on the national stadium and Romanian fans had the chance to see their idol again.
