Romanian inspectors have ordered the closure of 17 construction works sites across the country following controls in July that showed the sites posed an imminent danger of working accidents, chief work inspector Cecilia Alecu told Romanian news agency NewsIn on Thursday.

Three sites were closed in Bucharest, with two other sites in the county of Cluj, five in Botosani, five in braila, one in Galati and one in Olt.

Of a total 1,517 employers controlled in July, 1,351 received sanctions. Fines amounted to 1,578 million lei.
