Romania will not accept any sanctions from EU institutions, Romania's Foreign Affairs minister Cristian Diaconescu declared during his official visit to Hague, the Netherlands. He declared that there is no point in questioning whether EU funds will be cut because this sector is evaluated by specific mechanisms, an official declaration for HotNews.ro reads.

During the visit we wanted to clarify with our Dutch counterparts the problems they have recently voiced in the EU regarding Romania's results in its judicial reform, the press release informs. Dutch Parliamentarians urge the EU to continue the monitoring mechanisms for Romania but did not urge the EU to sanction our country. The release reads that the Dutch counterparts expressed their interest to increase cooperation between the two countries, in an effort to sustain Romania's reforms.

Romania's Foreign Affairs minister changed his initial decision to cancel his official visit to Hague, after a Dutch document released in the press criticized Romania's lack of reforms in the judicial system. At the time, the Romanian minister said that the gesture was unfriendly and inappropriate.
