Labor minister Marian Sarbu and Finance minister Gheorghe Pogea met with unions to discuss their intention to launch a general strike on October 5. Unions are dissatisfied by the last version put forward by the government. After a heated debate, in which officials wanted to convince unions to accept the current version of the project, the two ministers announced together the results of the latest negotiations on the unique salary scheme law.

• we triggered the attention of authorities to avoid social conflicts
• we need a new article ruling that the Executive, together with social partners should amend the law

• the government should assume responsibility of the law after it includes our recommendations

• I want to clarify a confusion: regarding the decrease of the salary: the law stipulates clearly that no person will lose their salary once this law enters into force
• the government respected all rules regarding the negotiation procedures with union representatives
• salary schemes were concluded only after credit suppliers talked with representatives
• strikes are an unjustified conflict

• this unique salary scheme law does not regard only budgetary personnel but indirectly influence other personnel
• we need to understand that the state's budget is not neverending
• there would be no resources to develop and modernize the country
• the evolution of spending with salaries in the last four years make the evolution of salaries in Romania unsustainable
• surely, the law will not satisfy everybody
• the average increase in salaries for 2010 - 2015 will be 56%
• the GDP salary percent will drop from 9.4% to 6%
• in the pre-universitary system the average increase is 78%
• in the universitary system the increase will be 31%
