Famous Romanian actor Nicu Constantin died on Tuesday, at 4:45pm after a respiratory and heart arrest, Romanian news agency NewsIn informs. The artist, aged 70, was hospitalized since May in the Emergency Military Hospital in Bucharest.

Commander of the health unit, doctor Ioan Sarbu declared that doctors attempt to revive the actor for almost an hour but there was nothing they could do. On May 11, Constantin was hospitalized in a critical condition in the Intensive Therapy section of the Military hospital due to respiratory problems.

After a week, his health condition improved but the doctors decided to keep him under supervision. Nicu Constantin was born on July 31, 1939 at Eforie Sud, in Constanta, South East Romania. He was the main actor of the Constantin Tanase Theater in Bucharest between 1960 to 2000 where he held over 2000 representations. Nicu Constantin played in about 28 movies during his career.
