Small and Medium Size Enterprises Minister Constantin Nita declared, for RFI that the minimum tax will be replaced by a forfeit tax on several activities: from alcohol, tobacco or oil product sales to food industry activities.
Nita explained that the new tax will be differentiated from sector to sector. The tax will be implemented starting January 2010 but that the final decision on the matter will be taken by the Finance ministry.
Starting May 1, 2009, all companies pay an annual minimum salary between 2,200 lei if their total annual revenues are lower than 52,000 lei and 43,000 lei if their revenues exceed 129 million lei. The state cashed about 69 million euro after the first two months.
