PM Emil Boc announced that the governing coalition formed by the Democrat Liberals and the Social Democrats will dismiss Interior minister Dan Nica from the Social Democrats. His party has 24 hours to come up with a new proposal for this function.

If the Social Democrats fail to designate one, the PM will name an interim minister, PM Boc underlined. Social Democrat Mircea Geoana declared, right after the announcement that PM Boc plans to name Vasile Blaga as interim.

Blaga confirmed that he could takeover the ministry as interim.

PM Boc's arguments of firing Dan Nica:

  • The safety of the citizens dimished in the last year
  • I urged the ministry to confirm that there are no buses to rent for the Presidential elections and these information could not be confirmed
  • The information had no cover - a serious accusation which undermines the legitimity of the Presidential elections
  • The streets are out of control

HotNews.ro announced as early as September 3 that the Interior minister is the main target of the Democrat Liberals.
