Romania will receive the next instalment from the loan contracted with the European Commission, but only next year. The instalment is worth one billion euros. The EC evaluation chief in Romania Elena Flores declared on Friday that the next instalment could be approved by the Commission in December, but the money will only be forwarded to Romania in 2010, because the EU needs to attract the money on the market, Romanian press agency Mediafax reads.

The news comes at the same time when the IMF could also postpone until 2010 the next instalment Romania is due to receive in December.

The European Commission was to give Romania the second loan instalment - one billion euros out of the five billions contracted - in December, in the same financial arrangement Romania sealed with the IMG and the international financing institutions, of a total of 19.5 billion euros.
