Turnout by 1 p.m. in the presidential elections on Sunday was 24.01%, the Central Electoral Office has announced. In urban areas, turnout was 23.32%, while in rural areas - 24.94%. In Bucharest. turnout was 23.34%. Turnout at 1 p.m. in the first round of the elections was 20.96%.

According to the Romanian Foreign Ministry, 24.200 Romanian citizens voted in polling stations across the world by noon on Sunday. The highest turnout was reported in the Republic of Moldova.

In Romania turnout was:

  • highest in the counties of Dambovita (32.29%), Teleorman, Mehedinti, Ilfov
  • lowest in the counties of Covasna (13.56%), Harghita, Satu Mare and Maramures
