Some 40.1% of Romanian voters cast their ballots by 4 p.m. in the Sunday presidential elections, the Central Electoral Office has announced. In the first round of the elections two weeks ago, turnout at 4 p.m. was 36.19%.

In Bucharest, turnout stood at 38.05%. Turnout in urban areas was 37.41%, while turnout in rural areas - 43.66%.

  • Counties with highest turnout: Dambovita (50.22%), Ilfov, Mehedinti, Teleorman, Olt
  • Counties with lowest turnout: Harghita (23.16%), Covasna, Satu Mare, Mures, Caras-Severin

According to the Romanian Foreign Ministry, some 61,400 Romanian citizens cast their vote at polling stations abroad by 4 p.m. Romanian time on Sunday.
