Finance minister: Health reform should start by cutting the number of hospitals
"Regarding health, the funds are obviously insufficient. A solid restructuring is needed for the entire health system, which should begin by reducing the number of hospitals and which should continue by transferring some of them to the local authorities simultaneously with the incomes' transfer", Vladescu added during the state budget 2010 debates unfolding with the Parliament's Budget-Finance Commissions, Romanian news agency Mediafax informs.
"We have to see when, how, where and by what means we can find this money", Vladescu said. The minister believes that "some 10-15% of the funds allocated to the health department are being wasted".
