Romanian President Traian Basescu has addressed an invitation to parliamentary parties regarding participation to consultations on changing the Constitution and this year's legislative priorities, the Presidential Administration confirmed on Monday, quoted by Romanian press agency Agerpres.

The meeting will be held next Monday, March 15, at the Cotroceni Palace.

According to the article 150 from the Constitution, the revision of the fundamental law may be initiated by the president of the country at the proposal of the Government, by at least one quarter of the number of deputies or senators, as well as at least 500,000 citizens having the right to vote.

The revision proposal or project must be adopted by the Deputies Chamber and the Senate, with a majority of at least two thirds of the members of each Chamber. The revision id final after its approval through referendum, organised in at east 30 days from the date the project or revision proposal has been approved.
