The United States is no longer the country from where the most information attacks are launched, according to Symantec. The American security solutions producer claims in its latest report that most of the IP addresses launching this kind of attacks come from China, followed by Romania and the US.

Symantec noticed that the rate of these attacks dropped in the US from 33.6% to 13.8% from the total of registered attacks. Thus, the US fills the third slot in the chart, which is now led by China -28.2%, followed by Romania - 21.1%.

Researchers also noted that the majority of documents containing viruses have the .rar extension. Nearly 97% of them destroy computers. The least infected documents are the ones with the .xls extension.
