Interior minister Vasile Blaga estimated on Tuesday in a press conference with prefects across the country that damages after floods will be higher than 0.6% of GDP which is a lot and announced that he will count on the EU's Solidarity Fund.
Blaga said that his ministry already started procedures to access Solidarity Funds offered by the EU and urged prefects to evaluate damages. PM Emil Boc said that the government will allocate 5,000 lei for each family whose loved ones died due to the floods.
19 people from North, West Romania died after floods, of which 14 alone in the last 24 hours.
