US Ambassador to Romania Mark Gitenstein announced on Monday that the US government would offer about 50,000 dollars in humanitarian aid to help flood victims in Romania. The US Embassy offered the sum at the request of the Romanian government for humanitarian aid, a press release of the Embassy informs.

My best thoughts for those affected by the floods, whom we want to help, US Ambassador Mark Gitenstein declared. He added that the US were happy to add to the humanitarian aid offered by the local and central administration, by NGO's and volunteers.

The allocated sum will be managed by World Vision Romania, in collaboration with local authorities and other organizations that make efforts to send the aid to those in need. The funds will be used to purchase emergency effects like blankets, water, cloths, shoes, personal hygiene items etc.

US Embassy said that in almost 20 years, the US Government worked closely with Romania to prepare a reaction in case of natural disasters and humanitarian aid need.
