PM Emil Boc warned European funds beneficiaries to be careful when implementing the projects. Boc said that he has plenty of examples where people started implementing projects one year after the contract was signed. Because of such delays, Romania risks to be compelled to return the money. Declarations were made at an event marking the signature of several financing contracts part of a financial support scheme of 1,075,000 lei awarded for investments in small and medium sized enterprises.

185 contracts were signed, at a total of 35,665,841 euro. Here are PM Boc's main declarations:

  • It is not easy to write up the project but it is just as hard to implement it
  • unfortunately there were projects where Romania had to return the money and cancel the projects
  • European funds are the stable and rapid way to exit the crisis
  • I urge you to speed up financing and implementation of EU funded projects as we risk to lose the money
