The government might invest 17 billion euro by 2035 for anti-flood measures, according to the national strategy on flood risks adopted on Wednesday by the executive, Environment minister Laszlo Borbely declared. According to him, about 35% of the estimated spending will be allocated from the state's budget while 28% will come from foreign credits, about 15% will be insured through European funds and the other 22% will be covered from other resources.

Total costs are about 17 billion euro until 2035, Borbely declared. Through this strategy, the government plans to reduce then number of people exposed to the risk of floods by 62% in 2035 compared to 2006 and reduce vulnerability of communities exposed to floods by 50% in 10 years.
