A former general manager of Romanian Railways company and two other managers have been sent to court by anti-graft prosecutors for abuse in office, Romania's National Anti-corruption Department (DNA) announced on Thursday. According to DNA prosecutors, ex-general manager Alexandru Noaptes, deputy director Nacu Vanghele and traction manager Nicolae Iosub allegedly caused a prejudice of some 700,000 euro.

Several other low-ranked managers were also indicted under charges of complicity to abuse in office.

According to prosecutors, the suspects were involved in a series of commercial operations by which the Romanian Railways acquired six German used machines at an overvalued price, through two companies which took profit abusively from the transactions.
