European Commission President Jose Manuel Barroso and the French President Nicolas Sarkozy had a violent clash on the issue of gypsie expulsion from France, AFP informs, quoting Bulgarian PM and other European sources.

The talk took place at lunch time within the European Council in Brussels. It was a harsh clash, Bulgarian PM Boiko Borisov declared after the meeting. Barroso expressed his support of EC Commissioner Viviane Reding. The existance of a confrontation was admitted by another source for AFP.

Before the works of the summit started, there was a short exchange of words between Romanian and French Presidents . The Brussels press announced a certain tension at the summit considering that Jean Claude Junker and Viviane Reding missed the meeting where all European leaders were present.
