Romania's national authority for the protection of consumers received 60 complaints against the decision of the private company delivering internet and TV cable, RCS&RDS, to introduce of a tax of maintainance which lead to a series of controls and resulted in 26 fines worth 135,000 lei for several other irregularities found, according to date remitted to HotNews.ro. Moreover, the private company risks fines between 2,000 lei to 20,000 lei if it does not return the money it cashed illegal and does not inform clients regarding this disposition.

Last week, the private company was fined with 300,000 lei by the national authority regulating communications because it failed to communicate to its clients that they introduced a maintainance tax of 5 lei and did not modify the contract with each individual client.
