Labor minister Ioan Botis: I assure all retired people that their pensions will not drop

I want to assure all retired people that their pensions will not drop in 2010, or 2011 because the law on pensions guarantees it. The formula included in the law assures longer sustainability of the pensions system, Labor minister Ioan Botis declared in a press conference organized together with PDL deputy president Ioan Oltean. 

Here are Ioan Botis's declarations 
  • 2010 pensions will not drop because we shifted the formula calculating pensions from the political area to the economical one 
  • the formula proposed by us offers sustainability 
  • the formula proposed by the opposition might trigger a drop in pensions 
  • the current value of the pension point is indexed 100% from the inflation rate 
  • the value of the pension point will always remain positive 
  • the retirement age will increase to 65 
  • this law treats the Romanian citizen ethically 
  • I want to assure all retired people that their pensions will not drop in 2010 and 2011 
Here are the declarations made by PDL deputy president Ioan Oltean 
  • PDL has no reaction to the decision of the Constitutional Court to declare the law on pensions constitutional 
  • it is clear now that the law is not illegal in any way 
  • PDL guarantees the payment of all pensions in Romania 
  • PDL makes justice in the system, which all retired people need 
  • PDL ensures that the pensions will be paid on time in 2010, 2011 and 2012 
  • a political crisis might have devastating effects on the population at this moment
