France will make sure that the EU decision to allow Romania and Bulgaria to join Schengen will not be taken until the summer of 2011, French minister for European affairs Pierre Lellouche declared, quoted by Novinite.

Lellouche declared on Wednesday that France needs to be more vigilent when it comes to Romania and Bulgaria joining Schengen. In his opinion, the expansion of the Schengen region should not be an automatic result of the tehnical evaluation process, which is undergoing for two years.

Lellouche said that France joins Netherlands in its decision to postpone the decision until the report on justice in Summer 2011 will be released. He insisted that the problem is the effective surveillance of EU borders and the fight against corruption - problems that were highlighted in the latest report on justice.
