"Romania's Foreign Affairs ministry regretfully acknowledges that the head of the National Theatre in Hungary, Robert Alfoldi, pressured by protests announced by the Jobbik party, a radical nationalist party, was compelled to cancel the previous committment to the Romanian Embassy to offer the space to mark its National Day on November 30, 2010", is the first official reaction of the Ministry. A huge scandal broke out in Hungary after the intent of Romanian officials in Budapest to mark the national day at the National Theatre in Budapest.

Romania's Foreign Affairs ministry reads that this year, Romania's Embassy to Hungary wanted to organize at the National Theater a classical music recital of Romanian composers George Enescu and Hungarian Bela Bartok.

Romanian officials consider that this event is a regrettable and isolated exception considering the excellent diplomatic relations between the two countries at all levels.
