Ursus Breweries beer producer in Romania announced on Thursday that it will shut down its factory in Cluj Napoca, central Romania due to a decrease of the beer market and high operating costs. Local daily newspaper Ziua de Cluj claims that 150 people will be laid off because of this decision.

Ursus officials said for HotNews.ro that the final number of people laid off depend on whether the employees will accept other offers the factory has for them. Company representatives said that the factory will be relocated to other units of the group.

Ursus Breweries officials said that the beer market continues to drop in Romania due to a decrease in the consumption power. They added that sales decreased by 11% compared to the same period, last year.
