A US state department cable, released by Wikileaks shows that a German company planned to supply Iran in 2007 with illegal equipments for the defense industry. To avoid the international embargo, the company wanted to use middlemen from Romania, Croatia or Russia. The cable does not mention whether a Romanian middleman was involved or not in the business after all.

However, the name of the German company is deleted from the cable. The document shows that the German company planned to transport an environmental test chamber, a necessary component to develop the military program of Iran.

German authorities refused the initial attempt of the company to export the equipment and the cable shows that the German supplier searched a solution to avoid the international embargo. One of the solutions was to use a Romanian middleman.

Wikileaks started last week to release over 250,000 diplomatic cables of various secret levels emitted by US Embassies.
