Romania's Chamber of Deputies passed the law on pensions on Tuesday, which rules the retirement age of 63 for women and 65 for men with 172 votes for. President Basescu re-sent the law on pensions to the Parliament with a proposal to decrease the retirement age for women at 63 compared to 65 as the initial law stipulated.

The request to re-examine the law was decided after a controversy vote in the Chamber of Deputies when the opposition accused that the Chamber's Speaker Roberta Anastase counted more votes for the law than the number of Parliamentarians.

Since then, the opposition requested the resignation of Anastase and announced that they will not attend the meetings. However, the Liberals changed their minds and declared that they will attend debates for important laws.
