A man threw himself from a balcony in Romania's Parliament on Thursday morning, while PM Emil Boc was holding a speech before MPs. According to preliminary information, the man as a technician working for the public television TVR. He was wearing a shirt bearing the slogan "You killed our future". Intervention teams provided first aid and removed him from the hall.

When jumping from the balcony, the man shouted "You took the bread away from the mouths of my children, you killed the future of our children".

PM Boc said that saving the life of the man was most important for the moment.

PM Boc was holding a speech as MPs were debating a censure motion on the framework law on salaries in the budget sector. Opposition Liberals (PNL) said they would withdraw from the motion and Liberal leader Crin Antonescu said the man's gesture showed what the response of the society to Romania's current government was.

Opposition Social Democrats also said they would leave the debates.

On his being carried out of the plenary hall, the man shouted "Freedom!". Intervention team representatives said he had a broken leg and a nose wound.
