The government sent an official letter to the IMF announcing that Romania fulfilled all conditions to receive a new installment of the loan. The letter reads that the country ended the year with a 6.6% deficit of GDP, with 1.27 million budgetary personnel and with an agreed stock of debts to the private sector.

The government committed to maintain the budgetary deficit below 6.8% of GDP in 2010 and decrease it by 4.4% in GDP this year. Moreover, according to agreements with the IMF, the budgetary personnel should have been decreased to 1.29 million people. The IMF board is scheduled to meet on January 7 to discuss whether to release the seventh installment.
