EU member states decided on Wednesday, at Brussels that the technical evaluation reports of Romania and Bulgaria should be declassified and sent to the European Parliament, RFI informs. The evaluation reports will be delivered in a few days to the EP.

It is the first time that technical reports on Schengen are being declassified. These reports were always secret but the EP says that in 2007 when eight Eastern European countries joined Schengen it received more information than it did now.

Currently, EU member states limited the access to the reports and allowed only few EP Parliamentarians to access the information. However, the EP contested the decision and said that they cannot give a consultative approval without access to information.
