The Senate validated on Monday afternoon with 64 votes for and 48 against the list of the 8 new members of the Superior Council of Magistracy following the decision of the Constitutional Court to invalidate the candidacies of the three magistrates and one civil society representative.

The three judges are Lidia Barbulescu, Dan Lupascu and Dan Chiujdea. The Senate adopted the version proposed by PDL representatives, initially rejected by the judicial committee through which only eight magistrates were approved.

The situation with the civil society representative will be shortly resolved afterwards, PDL Senator Iulian Urban declared. For the three vacant seats, the Council will organize new elections.
