Romania and Bulgaria’s chances to join Schengen will improve considerably if the upcoming summer EC report on the justice system and the fight against corruption will be positive, Novinite.com reads, quoting sources close to negotiations.

Romania and Bulgaria want to join Schengen in March and claim that they met all requirements but integration was practically blocked by France’s veto to which other member states joined in. Currently, the two countries hope to join Schengen in October. The interim justice report released on Friday by the EC reads that Romania made some progress in its fight against corruption but it needs to accelerate high corruption trial terms and consolidate the general anti graft policy.
