Unions threaten with a general strike in the first day when the President will receive the Labour Code and the Social Dialogue Code for promulgation and they promise, starting February 28 that they will launch rallies across Romania.

According to the action plan, all federations affiliated to the five confederations, will start, as of February 28 protests across Romania and in Bucharest the day when the Chamber of Deputies is to discuss the draft law modifying the Labor Code news agency Mediafax informs.

Union leaders announced that they set talks with deputies in the committee, protests and visits at the main party headquarters including the ruling party and the opposition, rallies across Romania and a warning strike the day of the vote in the Chamber of Deputies. At the local level, unions plans to rally starting February 28 to April 18 across Romania.

Prime Minister Boc announced that leaders of the governing coalition want the government to take responsibility for the code in the Parliament saying that there will be consultations with all political parties. Boc said that he will maintain dialogue with the social partners and unions and will consider the amendments of Parliamentarians.
