The Romanian Government adopted in a special session on Monday morning the draft legislation changing the Labor Code. Government spokeswoman Ioana Muntean said the bill was already sent to Parliament so that legislators set a date for the government to assume responsibility over the document. Opposition National Liberal Party (PNL) leader said immediately that a censure motion against the government was a must in these circumstances.

Deputies and senators have three days to submit a censure motion against the government once it assumes responsibility over a piece of legislation. If they fail to do so, the legislation is considered adopted.

Opposition representatives have been warning they would submit a censure motion should the Government led by Emil Boc assume responsibility over the new Labor Code.

Government officials and trade union representatives analyzed the new form of the Labor code in talks on Friday, but failed to reach an agreement over the changes.
