Two Italian Citizens have been retained by Romanian organized crime prosecutors from Bacau, Eastern Romania for trying to leave the country with a three-day old baby, news agency Agerpres reports.

The two, aged 45 and 57 respectively, are charged with trafficking with underaged people, forgery and using fake IDs.

The two are charged for agreeing with a Romanian woman that once she gives birth the baby be registered on their name instead of its natural parents. The woman gave birth under fake ID in Bacau and on leaving the hospital turned the baby over to the Italians. When they tried to leave the country for Italy, baby with them, they were retained in Brasov, central Romania, on March 8.
