Tarom’s general director, Ruxandra Brutaru announced her resignation on Tuesday. Her position will be taken over by somebody else starting April 2011, sources within the Transports ministry declared for HotNews.ro. Tarom is the national Romanian airline, under the lead of the Transports ministry.

Social Democrats requested on February the resignation of Tarom director, accused of mismanagement. PSD spokesperson Olguta Vasilescu accused that in the last year, Tarom registered 100 million dollars losses. Social Democrats requested an internal investigation of the management of the company.

Tarom was one of the companies included on the list of companies monitored by the IMF, in the newest agreement. IMF will monitor both the company’s loses and the debts to the private sector. The government agreed to seek a strategic investor for Tarom until the end of 2011 and will privatize the company when market conditions will allow it.
