Romania’s Prime Minister Emil Boc decided, at the proposal of the Foreign Affairs ministry to set up a rapid reaction unit at the National Committee for the control of nuclear activities, CNCAN, that will supply the government information about the evolution of the situation in Romania, PM’s spokesperson Ioana Muntean declared.

CNCAN is automatically notified in case of a nuclear accident and thus the committee can announce institutions and structures that can manage such a situation. If needed, the executive will allocate, through government decisions financial resources to repatriate Romanian citizens living in Japan.

The government is ready to intervene at any point to repatriate its citizens from Japan, Muntean said. Moreover, the government plans to adopt a decision to offer Japan humanitarian aid. The Japanese government requested beds, mattresses and water, Ioana Muntean said.
