The President did not ask me to leave the party in these last months, PM Boc said in an interview for Realitatea TV news television. However, the statement seems far from the truth. According to HotNews.ro sources, the President recently had a talk with Boc about the latter’s resignation and the appointment of an independent PM. After the talk, the relationship between the two deteriorated due to Boc’s refusal to leave his seat before PDL congress, quoted sources said.

Hotnews.ro sources claim that the President reiterated his request to have PM Boc leave the executive before internal elections in the Democratic Liberal party take place. The president pleaded for a renewal of the government’s image that would help the party. According to the same sources, Boc assured Basescu that he will resign after the Congress.

After the talk, sources claim, relationships between the two cooled and Basescu told Boc he will withdraw his support for him or that he will avoid to publicly sustain him for PDL president. Sources say that Boc fears that once he resigns as head of the executive, he will lose the support of local PDL organizations which means that he will lose the internal elections.
