Mihai Necolaiciuc, former director of the national railway company, CFR, accused of frauding the company with about 50 million euro will be repatriated in a few days from the USA after the American State Secretary Hillary Clinton announced on Monday that she signed the repatriation decree.

Necolaiciuc’s lawyer Gheorghita Mateut said that after the decree was signed, Romanian police officers need to contact their counterpart in the US and agree on the repatriation schedule. He said Romanian authorities need to create a passport for Necolaiciuc.

Necolaiciuc was arrested in June 2009 in Florida, Palm Beach County. When he was captured by American federal police officers Necolaiciuc presented identity papers issued in Venezuela. A day after his arrest Romanian authorities issued a repatriation procedure.
