President Traian Basescu announced on Tuesday, at Tallinn that he will launch a discussion within the National Central Bank, the government and analysts to see whether Romania should maintain its objective to join euro in 2015, Agerpres reports. To perform within the euro zone, one needs to have a performing economy and this is the reason why a debate on whether it will be in Romania’s interest to join the euro zone or not in 2015.

In an official visit to Tallinn, Romania’s President discussed with his counterpart about joining the euro zone, a step Estonia already made. Basescu said that Romania’s objective to join the euro did not change but that Romania needs to learn from its economic crisis and re-analyze the objective in this light.
