US Ambassador to Bucharest, Mark Gitenstein received on Thursday, during a visit to Botosani, North Romania, a copy of the death certificate of his great great grandfather, news agency Agerpres reports. The document, discovered in Botosani, was offered to him by one of the Jewish community members from Botosani, Gustav Finkel who decided to study the Ambassador’s genealogy tree.

According to the documents, the great grandfather of Mark Gitenstein’s father is called Sama Bralever and died in 1888. The Ambassador held a photograph with Sama Bralever’s wife. The Ambassador said that by touching the certificate, he can reconnect to his family. He said it is a nice story linking the US and Romania. My father would have been proud and happy, the Ambassador said.
