Romania and the US should expect countermeasures from Russia, as a response to the agreement to place the American anti-missile shield in Romania, a Russian official said on Wednesday, quoted by RIA Novosti.

On Tuesday, Romanian President Basescu announced that the anti missile shield will be placed at Deveselu, Olt county South Romania following the agreement with the US. Russian official, Konstantin Kosachev said that the US, NATO and Romanian officials should expect Russia to take countermeasures.
