Caporal Constantin Laurentiu Lixandru, from 26 Batallion Infrantry Neagoe Basarab died on Wendnesday in Kabul in Afghanistan, Romania’s Defense ministry reads in a press release. Lixandru was 30 years old, was married without children. He is the 18th Romanian military to lose his life in Afghanistan since Romania joined NATO’s operations there.
The incident took place on Thursday, around 1:30 PM during a mission on highway A1 when the convoy was attacked by an explosive device and was severely injured. He was immediately transferred to Lagman base but the doctors were not able to save him.
